Message of Shreth Iame Malngiang, Class XII Science - Head Girl 2025.

'The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow,' is a quote by Nelson Mandela, and these words resonate deeply with all of us, as they remind us of the immense power and potential, within us.

First and foremost, I would like to thank God, for His blessings and presence with us today. I am also grateful to the Sisters, and teachers, who have recognised me, and putting their trust in me for this role.

It is both an honour and a great privilege to be the Head Girl of this remarkable institution, that was started by a great woman like Mary Ward. She believed and lived by the virtues of Sincerity, Justice and Freedom. As members of the Student Council, Prefects and students, what can we do to live out these values? Sincerity: As Captains and Prefects, we must be truthful in all that we do. Sincerity is not just about being honest when others are watching, but about being truthful at all times, and in all places even when we are not watched, be it while doing our duties or following the school rules. As we have been selected as Captains and prefects, Sincerity is also about upholding the trust that our Sisters and teachers have placed on us. We must respect this trust by executing our roles with dedication and integrity.

We next have justice, Mary Ward has reminded us that justice is not merely about fairness but also about maintaining the right relationship with God, with nature, with each other, and most importantly with one self. Justice asks us to always stand up for what is right and truthful, even in difficult situations. We must all strive to ensure that everyone around us is treated with the dignity they deserve.

Finally, we have Freedom, which I would like to emphasise on inner freedom. Mary Ward's vision of freedom is not limited to physical freedom only, but also the freedom of the soul. True freedom comes from within, that is when we live with integrity, are at peace with ourselves, and allow our hearts and minds to open to the world around us. It is only when we achieve this inner freedom, that we can help others experience their own freedom.

So, you, us,we and I are invited to live out all these values just like our foundress Mary Ward. We shall strive to be the best of these qualities not only in school, but also beyond the school walls. As members of the Student Council and Prefects have taken a pledge, we pledge to live out these great values too, which I would like to quote from the Loreto Chorus, "High ideals of purity, of duty and of truth."

In conclusion, I would like to remind us of a quote that says, "A team is like a tool box, no one team can do all the jobs, but together all tools can be wonders. " I too as your Head Girl will not be able to fulfil my role without the support and cooperation of everyone . This journey is not mine alone to walk, but one for all of us so that we can create an inclusive and supportive environment, where we can all be the best versions of ourselves. Let us therefore join our hands together, keeping in mind the Mary Ward values, along with respect and understanding for one another, in order to make this year great and wonderful one.
