The following Awards are given every year at the end of the academic session to
girls who have performed well in their academics and have stood out among the rest.
Mechtilde Costelloe Award
Loreto Convent Shillong began in 1990 headed by Mother Mechtilde Costelloe and her companions. Mother Mechtilde was
the First Principal and Superior of Loreto Shillong from 1909 to 1915.
Trisha Memorial Award
Trisha Sen Bhattacharjee was a student of Loreto Convent, Shillong from Class I to Class XII. Trisha was a girl of
extraordinary calibre with unusual leadership qualities and talent to touch the lives of everyone around her own
inimitable ways. She was on the verge of appearing in the ISC 2017, when she was snatched away by the cruel hand of
fate.
A memorial award in her name has been started by her parent. This award will be given every year to the most helpful
student of Class XII.
Mary Ward Award
The Mary Ward Award was introduced in 1991 to celebrate 150 years of the coming
of Loreto to India. Every year this Award is given to a student who excels, not
only in academics, but in co-curricular activities as well. She is someone who embodies
the qualities that Loreto tries to instil in each and every Loreto girl.
Teresa Ball Award
The Teresa Ball Award is given every year to a hardworking student who puts her
best effort into her study inspite of insurmountable obstacles.
Stephanie Memorial Award
Little Stephanie Rynga, a child of class I passed away on the 11th of June, 2001.
Her parents started an award in her name to keep her memory alive. This award is
given every year to a child in the Junior School who is sincere in her work.
Dipsikha Memorial Award
Dipsikha Das, a student of the school, was the daughter of Mrs. Dipti Das and Prof.G.R.Das
of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong. She was born on the 8th of February, 1982. She
was a quiet worker and a helpful child. She was also always cheerful, humble and
well mannered. However, this young girl met with an untimely and sad demise on 21st
March, 1996 due to pulmonary oedema. She was studying in class VIII. A Memorial
Award in her name was started by her parents in the same year. Since then every
year till date, the Dipsikha Memorial Award is given to an outstanding student who
has applied herself to her study and has shown responsibility at all times.
Green Congregation Award
Loreto Schools were awarded “Green Congregation” by the diocesan social centre that had organised an All Faith Climate Conference for our efforts through our schools to fight climate change. 12 schools, college as well as the Provincialate are solar powered. We have planted a total of 138975 saplings exceeding our target of 100000
