Description: Loreto Convent, Shillong JPIC East Zone has observed the “1 Billion Rising” on the theme “Rise for the bodies of all women, girls and earth. Special Assembly was conducted by the teachers for the whole school. Classes II to VII created consciousness based on the theme through paintings, sketches, poems and writing slogans. Along with the school counsellor, the JPIC had initiated and conducted a live session on “Body Shaming” with the objective to empower, encourage students to embrace, accept one’s own physical appearance/physicality. The session, through power-point presentation and discussion of live cases focused on the concept, the physical-psychological impact of body-shaming on all age groups and gender. The session concluded with few helpful tips, a mindfulness exercise and a song followed with the message “I am enough”.
